A police officer in Riverside County was arrested on allegations that he sexually assaulted victims while on and off duty.
The officer was identified as Juan Pesina, 31, of Menifee, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. Pesina is an officer with the Menifee Police Department.
On July 22, Menifee police received a complaint involving sexual assault allegations against an officer. An internal investigation later identified Pesina as the suspect. The department requested an independent investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to ensure impartiality.
Pesina was initially accused of sexually assaulting a victim during an on-duty investigation. Detectives later found additional victims in incidents that occurred in Riverside County between 2023 and 2024. He allegedly encountered these victims while on duty and off duty, authorities said.
On Aug. 12, a search warrant was served at Pesina’s home and at his workplace where additional evidence in connection with the case was found.
Pesina was arrested for multiple felony charges including rape, sodomy, and forced oral copulation.
He was placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues. No further details, including the victims’ identities, were released.
Investigators believe there may be more victims who have yet to come forward. Anyone with information on the case can call Riverside County Sheriff Investigator Andrade at 951-955-1701 and reference case number MB25-205-0002.
“The Menifee Police Department remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of integrity in law enforcement,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “We take all allegations of misconduct seriously and will continue to cooperate fully with investigative authorities.”
