Westminster teen dies after suspected DUI crash in Huntington Beach

A Westminster teen died after a suspected DUI crash in Huntington Beach on Sunday night, Aug. 17.

Police responded just after 8:10 p.m. near Edinger Avenue and Beach Boulevard, where a silver Honda Accord traveling westbound on Edinger traveled into the opposing lane of traffic and struck a white Lexus RX head on, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department. A silver Lexus GS was also impacted in the crash.

The 44-year-old Honda driver was taken to a hospital with major injuries. Her two 15-year-old passengers were also taken to a hospital, where one of the girls died. The other passenger is expected to survive, police said.

The drivers of the other vehicles, a 23-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man, had minor injuries.

Police believe the Honda driver was impaired. The identities of that driver, and the girl who died, were not immediately made public.
