Firefighters put out a vegetation fire sparked by a lightning strike in Trabuco Canyon on Saturday morning, Aug. 23, authorities said.
The blaze, dubbed the Club fire, was reported just before 9 a.m. in the 20 block of Club Vista in Trabuco Canyon, near Dove Canyon, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg Barta said.
Ground crews and aircraft stopped forward progress of the fire around 10:45 a.m., and it was held to 4.25 acres, according to Watch Duty, a nonprofit app that tracks Southern California wildfires.
No homes were threatened, Barta said.
A late-summer heat wave took a turn overnight and into Saturday morning when a lightning and thunderstorm moved through the region, sparking multiple fires in the Angeles National Forest and elsewhere.
