<p>It was a show of soaring dolphins.</p><p>Passengers aboard a Newport Coastal Adventure charter got the thrill when more than 100 bottlenose <a href=”https://www.ocregister.com/2024/07/23/ghostly-dolphin-sighted-off-dana-point/”>dolphins</a> were filmed on Wednesday, Aug. 27, racing alongside their boat.</p><p>

</p><p>”The dolphins erupted into an energetic display that left passengers thrilled. This large pod of dolphins began riding the boat’s wake and, in a stunning show of athleticism, repeatedly launched themselves out of the water,” a recap of the encounter said.</p><p>Some of the dolphins reached heights of 10 feet in the air.</p><p>”This type of ‘high flying’ behavior is not commonly seen by bottlenose dolphins and demonstrates this species’ playful nature and strong social bonds,” said Jessica Rodriguez, education and communications manager for Newport Landing & Davey’s Locker Whale Watching.</p><p>https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FnAyu63GpKs</p><p>
