Downtown Disney will kick off a free film festival featuring six family-friendly Halloween-themed movies starting with “Hocus Pocus” at the outdoor shopping mall in Anaheim next to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
Downtown Disney will host the free series of Halloween movies on Wednesday nights from Wednesday, Sept. 24 through Oct. 29.

The free movies will be screened at 7 p.m. on Sept. 24, Oct. 1, Oct. 8, Oct. 15, Oct. 22 and Oct. 29 at the Downtown Disney Live stage between Din Tai Fung restaurant and Parkside Market food hall.
Disney’s 1993 “Hocus Pocus” starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will be the first movie screened in the series on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

The other Halloween-themed movies in the series have not yet been announced — but will be revealed each week on the official Downtown Disney Instagram feed.
A few possibilities include “Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Haunted Mansion,” “Coco,” “Twitches,” “Halloweentown,” “Zombies” and “Frankenweenie.”

The movie lineup could feature “Maleficent,” “Cruella” and “Descendants” if Disneyland decides to lean into the villain theme.
Disney owns the 20th Century Fox catalog that includes “Edward Scissorhands,” “Poltergeist” and “Rocky Horror Picture Show” — but those movies seem less likely to be featured in a family-friendly Disney film fest.

The limited-time Disney Wonderful World of Sweets cart next to the Downtown Disney Live lawn will sell Mickey Chocolate Chip Cookies with M&Ms, Minnie Caramel Apples, Peanut Caramel Apples, Mickey Cereal Treats, Peanut Butter Cookie Pies and Mickey Chocolate Cake Pops throughout the Halloween film festival.
