Two women on electric scooters struck by box truck and are critically injured in Fullerton

Two women on electric scooters were hit and injured by a box truck in Fullerton on Saturday evening, Sept. 27, police said.

Officers responded around 7 p.m. to the area of Associated Road and Yorba Linda Boulevard, near Cal State Fullerton, regarding the collision.

Upon arrival, officers found the women in the street with “significant, life-threatening injuries,” a Fullerton Police Department news release said. A white box truck was nearby.

Fullerton Fire Department personnel responded and both victims were transported to a local trauma center, where they remained in critical condition as of late Sunday afternoon.

An early investigation revealed the two females were riding electric scooters southbound on Associated in the #2 lane, when the box truck, also traveling southbound in that lane, collided with both riders in the street, officials said.

Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor in the collision.

The collision remains under investigation, Fullerton police spokeswoman Kristy Wells said.

The driver involved cooperated with investigators, Wells said.

Witnesses were encouraged to contact Fullerton Police Traffic Accident Investigator J. Munoz, at (714) 738-6812 or jmunoz@fullertonpd.org
