On social media, some people reacted with disbelief over the car barreling into the house.
The Newport Beach Fire Department told KTLA that crews responded around 11:23 p.m. to reports of a vehicle collision near Mariners Drive and Antigue Way in the Dover Shores neighborhood.
A video from the scene shows a white Tesla in the side of the home with its hazard lights flashing and heavy front-end damage, according to the report.
The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was transported to a hospital, authorities told KTLA. The Newport Beach Police Department is investigating the crash.
