Crystal Cove courtyard estate with subterranean garage seeks $65 million

A Newport Coast estate with an enclosed open-air courtyard hit the market this week for $65 million.

Nestled in Crystal Cove, this three-story home spans 11,095 square feet and features six ensuite bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a subterranean showcase garage for eight cars.

Records show the owner is a limited liability company managed by Eric Albert, whose Rialto-based company, American Handforge, manufactures specialized aluminum, titanium and stainless steel components primarily for the aerospace, military and defense industries. Albert purchased the vacant three-quarter-acre-plus lot in May 2011 for $3.3 million and then built this custom home.

Completed in 2013, the property is “designed to embrace every horizon,” the listing reads.

From its vantage point, the home offers unobstructed views of the ocean, Catalina Island and coastline stretching north to Palos Verdes. Glass walls connect the home’s interior to these expansive ocean-facing views, opening to terraces and loggias.

The Arabesque-shaped pool and spa are just outside the family room, which seamlessly flows into the open kitchen that boasts an oversized island with seating for four. Adjacent to the kitchen is a casual dining room with access to the backyard, while a dedicated dining room accommodates formal meals.

Other highlights of the estate include a resort-caliber gym, a movie theater, a glass-enclosed wine cellar, an onyx wet bar and a wood-paneled executive office. Arched doorways, ornate ceilings, long galleries lined with arched French doors, built-ins, polished stone, custom millwork and artful enrich the home’s ambiance.

Cascading water and fire features enhance the grounds.

Ginger Glass of Compass holds the listing, which became available Oct. 6.
