1. JSerra 23-0 (1): The Lions earned the outright Trinity League title and likely the top seed for the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs by defeating Orange Lutheran 21-20 on Thursday. Cornerback Stella Day was an unsung hero for a deep JSerra roster with multiple pass breakups.
2. Orange Lutheran 20-2 (2): Orange Lutheran coach Kristen Sherman on Josie Anderson, who had a school-record 24 catches for 195 yards against JSerra: “She was unbelievable (Thursday). She is an unbelievable athlete.”
3. Huntington Beach 22-1 (3): Roxie Shaia passed for 355 yards and four TDs, including two to Taylor Savage, in a 24-12 win against El Toro on Thursday.
4. Newport Harbor 21-2 (4): Ava Mortensen recorded an impressive eight sacks in a 14-0 win against St. Joseph on Monday.
5. Santa Margarita 19-6 (5): Santa Margarita edged Mater Dei 28-26 on Thursday to set up a key game at Orange Lutheran on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The Eagles could force a tie for second in the Trinity League with an upset.
6. Canyon 18-1 (6): The Crestview League leaders will ride an 11-game winning streak into the final week of the regular season.
7. Cypress 18-6 (7): The Centurions can clinch a tie for second place in the Crestview League by defeating Sonora on Tuesday.
8. Esperanza 14-6 (8): The Aztecs finished the Crestview League with a 5-3 record, and could tie Cypress for second place.
9. Edison 16-9 (9): Freshman Addison Bond record three sacks in a 7-0 win against Corona del Mar on Wednesday. The Chargers will finish third in the Sunset League.
10. Portola 22-2 (not ranked): The surging Bulldogs could clinch the outright Pacific Coast League title with a win against visiting University on Tuesday.
