Family searching for missing California girl who disappeared in 2020

Loved ones are searching for a California girl who has been missing for over four years.

Khrystyna Carreno was 12 years old when she disappeared in Bakersfield on Nov. 20, 2020, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

That day was the last time anyone heard from the young girl.

In 2025, Carreno would be 16 years old. Forensic artists created an age-progressed image showing what she may look like today.

Although there are no leads on what may have happened to the girl, authorities believe she could still be in the Los Angeles County or Kern County areas.

Carreno is described as a Hispanic female with brown eyes and brown hair. She has piercings in both nostrils. When she was last seen in 2020, she was 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighed around 180 pounds.

“We urge the public to pay close attention to this image, as it could be the key to finding Khrystyna,” NCMEC officials said.

Anyone who may know the teen’s whereabouts or has information on her disappearance is asked to call NCMEC at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) or the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 1-661-861-3110.

Carreno’s missing poster can be found on NCMEC’s website or on California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s website.
