4 Orange County schools named 2025 California Blue Ribbon Schools

Four Orange County schools were recognized as 2025 California Blue Ribbon Schools, a one-time distinction awarded to the state’s 31 most distinguished campuses this year.

The 31 schools across the state had been nominated for the esteemed National Blue Ribbon Schools award, but the US Department of Education discontinued the long-running program in August. California education officials decided to honor nominees of the canceled federal program with a state recognition that would be awarded this year only.

The California Blue Ribbon Schools were chosen for “their exceptional academic performance or progress in closing opportunity gaps,” the state Department of Education officials said in a press release.

“The award affirms the dedication and achievement of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content,” State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond said in a statement.

The shortlisted Orange County schools are:

  • Oxford Academy, Anaheim Union High School District
  • Troy High School, Fullerton Joint Union High School District
  • Orange Lutheran High School, Pacific Southwest District
  • Tustin Memorial Academy, Tustin Unified School District

Four Inland Empire schools also received the California Blue Ribbon designation, along with eight schools in Los Angeles County.

All 31 campuses will be formally honored next spring at the California School Recognition Program celebration.
