Monday will kick off a very warm start to our week before a storm pushes into Southern California, bringing a big drop in temperatures and a good chance of rain.
“We’re going to feel a little bit like late summer with temperatures well above the average,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said. “Temperatures toward Thursday and Friday will be very cool compared to the average. Basically, a 30-degree change between today and Friday in the high temperature.”
Showers may arrive as early as Wednesday night with the heaviest rain likely falling on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
“When it moves through Southern California, it’s going to be a relatively short event, but we could get quite a bit of rain in that short amount of time, so flood issues are always a concern for us,” Henry said.
NWS forecasters are calling for rain totals between one and two inches across the coasts and valleys, with mountain and foothill areas possibly receiving between two and four inches.

Snow levels will likely remain around the 8,000-foot mark for most of the storm before dropping to around 6,000 feet as the precipitation moves out Thursday night into Friday morning, the NWS said.
A second storm is on track to arrive early next week, although forecasters are currently projecting it to bring less rain.
