Anaheim Hills briefs: Library Friends group invites older residents for holiday party

An older adults winter get-together is planned for Dec. 12 at Canyon Hills Library.

This festive event is sponsored by Friends of Canyon Hills Library and will include games, hot cocoa, donuts and pizza. There will be a book giveaway and raffle prizes to add to the excitement

There is no cost to attend the noon to 1:30 p.m. party. Come join in the fun. For additional information, call 714-765-6444.

Canyon Hills Presbyterian has worship plans

Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church has several worship services planned this month intended to bring the joy and hope of the Christmas season to all whom attend.

On Dec. 14, an all-church Christmas Pageant is planned for the 10 a.m. service that will include the opportunity to hear the nativity story in a new way as the narrative shares heartwarming poetry and prose to relate the Christmas message.

Then on Dec. 21, the 10 a.m. worship service will celebrate the season through the word in music featuring the various church musicians, including the Chancel and Children’s Choirs, Handbells and Godsend, the church’s contemporary rock band.

Join the church in enjoying the inspirational music and joy of Christmas. All are welcome.

If Christmas is a lonely time, Canyon Hills Presbyterian reaches out

Christmas is often one of the most joyous times of the year as many celebrate with family and friends; yet for some, it may be one of the loneliest.

The Dec. 21, 5 p.m., service at Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church is intended to give hope and comfort to those experiencing sorrow, loss, anxiety or stress during the Christmas season and all worshippers are welcome to attend.

This special evening service of music, candlelight, communion and comfort is led by The Rev. Melissa Smith, Associate Pastor Matt Moncreif and Dr. Vanessa Bates, offering promise and peace during the holiday season.

Concert to raise money for school in India

A special fundraising holiday house concert featuring classical pianist Eric Le Van and jazz pianist Michael Le Van, together with a special guest singer, is planned from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.

The charity event, hosted by Myriam Lyczba Le Van with sponsorship from the Garcia Kincaid Family Real Estate Team, will include festive light fare and delicious holiday treats.

The accomplished Le Van brothers combine their extraordinary talents and perform together for the very first time on the same concert program in support of the Mummy Jee Foundation and its efforts of opening a new school in the poorest region of India, the Bihar province.

Dr. Jeanne Pere, a French teacher and social worker aka Mummy-Jee, has served as head director of the Mummy Jee Educational Charitable Trust for more than two decades. The Mummy-Jee NGO is dedicated to providing free boarding schools, education and training for the most underprivileged children in the region, believing, “To help one child is to change the world.”

This concert, the latest in the family’s concert series, is an opportunity to support this worthy cause while enjoying the captivating blend of musical artistry from Eric and Michael Le Van. Suggested donation is $35 per person and those interested in attending can find the registration information at Facebook.com/thelevanfamilymusicians. Seating is limited.

Things get slimy at the library

All kids are invited to the upcoming STEAM Sunday presents Grinch Slime hosted by the East Anaheim Library.

There is no charge to attend this fun event at 1 p.m. on Dec. 21 for kids of all ages.
