ALL-ORANGE COUNTY FOOTBALL 2025
Coach of the Year: Marcello Giuliano, Beckman
Three years ago, Beckman’s football team was coming off multiple underwhelming seasons that produced seven combined wins over a three-year stretch.
It has been a steady climb for the Patriots since then.
Led by coach Marcello Giuliano, the Patriots won their first CIF Southern Section championship this season. They also won a school-record 12 games and the Lambda League championship.
In the CIF-SS Division 8 final, they beat Brea Olinda 30-24 in overtime.
“On this team, the best players were also the hardest workers and extremely coachable,” Giuliano said. “The stars were the stars in the weight room, conditioning, meetings and on the field. You need a few things to go your way. We’ve had good teams in the past that just didn’t get the bounce of the ball. This year we got a couple of fortunate bounces at important times.”

The Patriots beat Hillcrest of Riverside 46-40 in the CIF State Southern Regional Division 4-A championship game and lost to El Cerrito in the CIF State championship game.
Beckman opened the season with a 1-3 record and then won 11 consecutive games.
“I really believe that if we didn’t start 1-3 and lose those early games, we never would have become the team that we did,” Giuliano said. “We had to make some changes in position placement, structure, and scheme and those paid off. At that point, there weren’t many believers out there. That really galvanized a ‘circle the wagons’ mentality and strengthened the team bond and commitment.”
Beckman was led by All-County running back Makhi Czaykowski, who had 34 total touchdowns and 1,920 yards rushing.
Quarterback Noah Nam threw for 2,776 yards with 25 touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns. Nathan Garcia led Beckman’s defense with 144 tackles and Xavier Musselman-Cano had nine interceptions.
During the team’s championship run, Giuliano repeatedly said the best three hours of his day were the time he spent with the players and coaches.
“There’s a lot of the job that isn’t a ton of fun, but the time you spend with the kids is the stuff that got you into coaching and teaching in the first place,” Giuliano said. “This group has a ton of personality and a great sense of humor, which brought levity to the daily grind.”
