A 21-year-old Riverside County man was arrested early Thursday morning after he allegedly attacked his father with a machete.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Collin Adam Stewart, a resident of Lake Hills, was arrested following the attack at his father’s home on the 1600 block of Jordana Circle near Riverside.
Deputies responded to the victim’s home around 2:30 a.m. after he called 911 to report that his son had attacked him with a machete and then fled the scene.
While responding to the area, deputies located a man at the intersection of La Sierra Avenue and McAllister Parkway who matched the description of the suspect.
Collin Stewart was taken into custody without incident, and his father was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Sheriff’s investigators served a search warrant at the residence and collected evidence and the alleged weapon. Stewart was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside as he awaits charges for attempted murder.
