O.C. girls soccer Top 10: Santa Margarita and Mater Dei to duel this week

ORANGE COUNTY GIRLS SOCCER TOP 10

(Records through Sunday, Jan. 18)

1. Santa Margarita, 13-0-0: The Eagles play at No. 2 Mater Dei on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in a Trinity League showdown. Texas A & M commit Felicity Nguyen scored twice and Utah commit Jastel David scored once in a 3-1 win against JSerra last week. Previous ranking: 1

2. Mater Dei 10-1-4: Junior Brooke Theis netted two goals as the Monarchs dueled Orange Lutheran to a 5-5 draw in their Trinity League opener. Previous ranking: 2

3. Huntington Beach 10-0-4: Santa Clara commit Solana Van Enoo posted a hat trick in the Oilers’ 5-1 victory against Fountain Valley in the Sunset League. Huntington Beach plays at Los Alamitos on Tuesday. Previous ranking: 3

4. JSerra 5-2-1: Kaylee Hanna stayed hot with a goal on a penalty kick in a 3-1 loss against Santa Margarita. The sophomore has a team-leading nine goals. Previous ranking: 4

5. Orange Lutheran 3-1-4: The Lancers play host to JSerra in the Trinity League on Tuesday. Previous ranking: 5

6. San Clemente 11-1-4: Villanova committed goalie Reese Tremper collected shutouts last week as the Tritons beat Capistrano Valley and played Aliso Niguel to a scoreless draw. Previous ranking: 8

7. Aliso Niguel 8-4-5: The Wolverines went 1-0-2 last week in the South Coast League. Previous ranking: 6

8. Capistrano Valley 7-3-3: The Cougars posted a 1-1-1 mark in the South Coast League last week. Previous ranking: 7

9. Edison 7-6-2: Ayla Khoshkbariie had a hat trick as the Chargers beat Marina 4-0 to move to 3-0 in the Sunset League. Previous ranking: 9

10. Canyon 9-3-2: The Comanches ride an eight-match winning streak into a week featuring matches against Troy and Sunny Hills in the Crestview League. Previous ranking: Not ranked
