Bolsa Grande has hired assistant Alexis Ramirez as its football coach, athletic director Scott Snyder announced.
Ramirez coached linemen and kickers at Bolsa Grande last season under coach Doug Cooper, who resigned after one season to spend more time with his family, Snyder said.
Cooper was in his second stint as Bolsa Grande’s coach.
A former standout lineman and track athlete at Garden Grove, Ramirez spent six seasons coaching football at his alma mater before joining Cooper last season.
In the fall, Bolsa Grande finished 5-6, tied for second place in the Tango League and reached the CIF-SS Division 14 playoffs. The Matadors lost to Ontario 21-0 in the first round.
Bolsa Grande has reached the postseason four consecutive years after snapping an Orange County record playoff drought of 34 seasons.
For the 2026-27 league cycle in the Orange County Football Conference, Bolsa Grande will remain in the Tango League, which will expand to nine teams.
The grouping will also include Century, Godinez, La Quinta, Loara, Magnolia, Santa Ana Valley, Santiago and Savanna. The top-four teams will earn automatic playoff berths.
