ORANGE COUNTY GIRLS WATER POLO TOP 10

Records through Tuesday, Jan. 21.

1. Mater Dei (17-1): The Monarchs are seeded first for the Newport Invite, which runs Thursday through Saturday. Mater Dei has captured three tournaments this season. Previous ranking: 1

2. Newport Harbor (18-3): Gabby Alexson and UC Santa Barbara commit Sophia Verdugo each scored three goals in a 13-9 win against Orange Lutheran on Tuesday. The Sailors are seeded third for the Newport Invite behind Mater Dei and Oaks Christian. Previous ranking: 2

3. Orange Lutheran (12-7): Juniors Bella Jurgensen and Eve Webb each netted three goals in a 13-9 loss to Newport Harbor on Tuesday. The Lancers play JSerra on Thursday before opening the Irvine Southern California Championships on Friday as the top seed. Previous ranking: 3

4. Foothill (15-7): The Knights start the Newport Invite against reigning CIF-SS Open Division champion Oaks Christian on Thursday. Previous ranking: 4

5. San Clemente (12-6): The Tritons play host to Beckman in a rescheduled South Coast League showdown on Thursday. Previous ranking: 5

6. JSerra (13-6): The Lions are seeded second for the Irvine SoCal Championships. JSerra could face San Clemente in the second round Friday. Previous ranking: 7

7. Corona del Mar (13-7): The Sea Kings edged Los Alamitos 7-6 in the Sunset League on Tuesday. The teams could meet again in the second round of the Irvine SoCal tournament on Friday. Previous ranking: 6

8. Beckman (10-8): The fifth-seeded Patriots open the Irvine SoCal tournament against Marlborough on Friday. Previous ranking: 8

9. Laguna Beach (12-9): The Breakers take a 5-0 record in the Pacific Coast League into their match at Northwood on Thursday. Previous ranking: 9

10T. Los Alamitos (9-13): The Griffins lost to Corona del Mar 7-6 on Tuesday after dropping a 19-8 decision to the Sea Kings earlier in the season. Previous ranking: Not ranked

10T. Sunny Hills (17-5): The Lancers went 3-1 with a loss to La Jolla in the Troy tournament. Previous ranking: 10
