ORANGE COUNTY GIRLS SOCCER TOP 10

(Records through Sunday, Jan. 25)

1. Santa Margarita, 13-0-2: The Eagles play host to JSerra and Mater Dei on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, after rallying for a pair of draws last week in the Trinity League. Texas A & M commit Felicity Nguyen scored in the second half as Santa Margarita earned a 1-1 tie against Orange Lutheran on Jan. 22. Previous ranking: 1

2. Mater Dei 11-1-5: Suna Roberts and Kendra Hansen scored goals as the Monarchs rallied past host JSerra 2-1 last week for their first Trinity League victory. Valentina Labuschagne and Sophia Di Gerlando recorded the assists for Mater Dei, which plays host to Orange Lutheran on Tuesday. Previous ranking: 2

3. Huntington Beach 12-0-4: Seniors Bailey Oliver and Alicia Katter netted goals in a 2-1 win against Edison last week that secured the Oilers the top seed for the Sunset League tournament. Huntington Beach also earned a first-round bye and home field advantage for the tournament, which begins Thursday. Previous ranking: 3

4. JSerra 5-3-2: Sophomore Kaylee Hanna scored her team-leading 10th goal for the Lions in a 2-1 loss against Mater Dei last week. JSerra plays at Santa Margarita on Tuesday. Previous ranking: 4

5. Orange Lutheran 3-1-6: Ava Harrison scored the first goal in a 1-1 draw at Santa Margarita last week. The first-half strike was the sophomore’s second goal in the Trinity League. The Lancers enter the second round of league with three draws. Previous ranking: 5

6. San Clemente 13-1-4: Seven different players scored goals as the Tritons outscored El Toro and Trabuco Hills 8-0 last week to improve to 4-0-2 in the South Coast League. San Clemente play host to Capistrano Valley on Tuesday. Previous ranking: 6

7. Aliso Niguel 9-4-5: The Wolverines beat El Toro 3-0 last week to move to 2-0-3 in the South Coast League. Aliso Niguel faces Trabuco Hills and Capistrano Valley this week. Previous ranking: 7

8. Capistrano Valley 7-3-4: The Cougars travel to San Clemente and play host to Aliso Niguel at Saddleback College this week in the South Coast League. Previous ranking: 8

9. Edison 8-7-2: Jaylen Maroney scored on a spectacular free kick in a 2-1 loss at Huntington Beach last week in the Sunset League. From about 33 yards, the sophomore powered a shot off the far post for the goal. The Chargers play host to Los Alamitos on Tuesday night. Previous ranking: 9

10. Canyon 11-3-2: Cal State Fullerton commit Caroline Hicks had three goals and an assist as the Comanches defeated Troy and Sunny Hills by a combined 8-1 last week to improve to 6-0 in the Crestview League. Previous ranking: 10
