A new parade joined Orange County’s celebrations of the Lunar New Year.
The inaugural parade, capped off with an afternoon festival, drew revelers to Irvine’s Great Park on Saturday, Feb. 7, ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year on Feb. 17.
The celebration was co-presented by the Asian American Museum at Great Park and the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center. The 220,000-square-foot museum is planned in the Cultural Terrace under development at the Irvine park.
On Saturday, the parade traveled the Great Park walkway that is a timeline of historic events, and ended at Great Park Live, its outdoor amphitheater, for the festival.
There were also celebrations heralding the Year of the Horse in Fountain Valley and Santa Ana on Saturday.
