Santa Margarita’s football team has received a key addition for its rebuilding defense.

Linebacker Allen “Cinco” Kennett V of Servite has enrolled at Santa Margarita, the sophomore confirmed Tuesday.

Kennett (6-1, 215) made first-team All-Trinity League on defense this past season as he excelled playing the position for the first time on varsity.

He led the Friars in total tackles (69) and had two sacks and an interception.

Kennett entered the season as a rising recruit after receiving an offer from Notre Dame.

As a freshman at Servite, he debuted on varsity as a backup quarterback for injured Leo Hannan.

Kennett started several varsity games and displayed strong running skills.

Santa Margarita featured a senior-dominated defense last season in claiming CIF-SS Division 1 and CIF State Open Division championships.

The unit graduates senior linebackers Dash Fifita (Arizona), Leki Holani (Sacramento State), Ivrick Carrigan (Black Hills State) and Vai Manutai. Fifita earned O.C. defensive player of the year.
