Free fun things to do for Valentine’s Day 2026

You’ve probably noticed that restaurants and bars jack up their prices to take advantage of the romantic vibes on Valentine’s Day on Saturday, Feb. 14. Be happy for them, because they need the business. Still, not everyone can afford to shell out serious cash that day (some of us are still paying off Christmas). Here are some pleasant things to do that won’t cost you a dime.

Friday, Feb. 13

Lucerne Valley: Galaxy Nights – Valentine’s Edition, a free, family-friendly astronomy and stargazing event from 7 to 9 p.m., hosted by the San Bernardino County Library, Avantus and the High Desert Astronomical Society (HiDAS). Enjoy tales of mythical love in the stars, activities and more. There will also be a presentation by High Desert Falconry with  two Peregrine falcons — a mated pair — along with an additional Eurasian eagle owl. And a team from the NASA Goldstone Visitor Center provides insights into space exploration, astronomy and humanity’s ongoing connection to the cosmos. Indoors and outdoors, so dress warmly. Sweet treats available for purchase. Lucerne Valley Horst Branch Library, 33103 High Desert State Scenic Hwy, Lucerne Valley. main.sbcounty.gov/2026/01/29/things-to-do-in-san-bernardino-county-109
