James Beard Award-winning New Orleans bar comes to the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point

For a coastal getaway that prides itself on breezy, surfside luxury, the Ritz-Carlton is about to get a bit more soulful. Starting Friday, Feb. 20, New Orleans’ cocktail bar of note Cure will return for its second residency, bringing French Quarter vibes to Dana Point’s chill shoreline.

Currently ranked No. 49 on North America’s 50 Best Bars list and freshly crowned Food & Wine’s 2025 Best Bar in the U.S., Cure is also a James Beard Award winner (Outstanding Bar Program in 2018) known for pioneering the craft cocktail movement in NOLA. For its pop-up, the lauded cocktail slingers will bring a selection of their most legendary pours to the Lobby Bar.

With drinks rooted in history, here are some of the libations you will find: The Hurricane, a 1940s-era classic restored to its former glory as a rum powerhouse, anchored by Cure’s own fassionola (a syrup using California winter produce like guava, passionfruit and pomegranate); St. Charles Punch, a drink that first appeared in 1862 at the St. Charles Hotel, featuring a blend of cognac, port and lemon; and the Obituary Cocktail, which is billed as a dry martini with the inclusion of French Absinthe.

Beyond the booze, the hotel’s culinary team has partnered with its sister property in New Orleans to come up with some thematic fare. Guests can enjoy Southern staples like the Hurricane Po’ Boy stuffed with fried shrimp, Cajun crab cakes made with spiced jumbo lump crab and beignets.

And as an additional on-theme moment, a live jazz band will play on Friday nights starting at 6 p.m.

Cure’s pop-up at the Ritz-Carlton will last through Memorial Day.
