A pedestrian was killed and another was injured on Saturday morning in Newport Beach, where the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, authorities said.
The crash occurred at around 2 a.m. on March 1 in the area of Newport Boulevard and 24th Street, Newport Beach Police Department spokesperson Heather Rangel said.
One pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics rushed another pedestrian to a hospital, Rangel said. That person’s condition was not immediately known.
The driver remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Rangel said.
The investigation is ongoing.
