A man in a car in Santa Ana was shot and killed on Saturday morning, authorities said.
Around 7:45 a.m., police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of South Townsend Street, south of McFadden Avenue and west of Raitt Street, according to Santa Ana Police Sgt. Luis Barragan. They found a man in the driver’s seat of a black sedan, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
No suspect was in custody as of Saturday afternoon, but Barragan said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
It appeared the shooting happened while the car was moving — it wasn’t known if the car rolled to a stop or if the victim was able to stop and park it, said Santa Ana Police Commander Rosa Ponce de Leon.
The investigation was active, and no further details were immediately released.
