The Los Angeles Lakers have unveiled a new set of jersey for the 2025-26 season, which will be highlighting the purple in “Purple and Gold.”
The team, fresh off the blockbuster announcement about its pending sale earlier this month, revealed a new-look jersey for the upcoming season, that it says is both “bold and traditional.”
Featuring a purple primary color with gold and white accents, the 2025-26 Statement Edition uniform adds the number 17 near the neck and the phrase “Leave a Legacy,” which has become synonymous with Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, on the shorts.
“The side panels of the refreshed design showcase the most notable update, removing the black accent panel from previous seasons, allowing the team’s signature purple and gold to stand alone vibrantly,” the team wrote in its Monday announcement. “Down the side of the uniform, ‘Los Angeles Lakers’ embellishes the emboss tape next to gold trim.”
The new Statement Edition uniform will replace the previous design that was released prior to the 2022-23 season.
The Lakers will continue to wear the team’s standard gold “Icon Edition” jersey, and the white “Association Edition” jerseys, which typically operate as the standard home and away jerseys. An annual “City Edition,” which last season featured a black and purple gradient with gold lettering, will be released closer to the season’s start.
