Headed to the OC Fair this week? Here are some things to know.
General information:
• Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
• General admission is $13 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and $15 on Fridays and weekends; tickets are $9 every day for children 6-12 and seniors 60 and older.
• Tickets must be purchased ahead online at ocfair.com. Daily attendance is capped at about 50,000 people and may sell out on popular days.
• Parking is $15
• OC Fair Express runs weekends, with direct bus service from the ARTIC station in Anaheim, Fullerton Park-and-Ride, Goldenwest Transportation Center in Huntington Beach, the Laguna Hills Transportation Center and the Santa Ana train station. Things to do:
• Orange County’s own Sean Oliu & The Coastline Cowboys will be performing at 8 p.m. on July 18 and 19 and 7 p.m. on July 20 on the Meadows Stage. These concerts are free.
• Check out a cow milking demonstration in the Millennium Barn at 2:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. each day – and say hi to the other barn residents.
• There are a variety of entertaining and cooking demonstrations planned throughout the week; they can be watched during the day on the OC Promenade Stage.
• On July 26, teens from around the region will be showing off the animals they have raised in local FFA and 4-H programs during the annual Junior Livestock Auction at 10 a.m. in the Livestock Show Ring. The teens are around with their animals during the week.
• Hundreds of entries are submitted each year to the dozens of contests the OC Fair hosts and you can check out the winners in the OC Promenade and the buildings to either side, along with other locations. There are extravagant table settings, quirky collections, striking photographs, intricate woodwork pieces and so much more.
• Check out the Magic of Frank Thurston at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. daily on the OC Promenade Stage.
