A deputy shot a suspect in Lake Forest on Thursday afternoon, August 7, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies were in the area searching for a felony suspect when they confronted that person near El Toro Road and Trabuco Road, Sgt. Gerard McCann said. The shooting occurred during that confrontation, he said.
Authorities did not immediately release what the suspect was wanted for or what led to the shooting.
The suspect was taken to the hospital, along with a deputy, McCann said. The deputy sustained a non-life-threatening injury during the incident, but it was unrelated to the confrontation and was not caused by the suspect, officials said.
