21-year-old suspected DUI driver arrested in pedestrian’s death in Huntington Beach

A 21-year-old Orange man is under arrest for allegedly driving while impaired when he struck and killed a 35-year-old Huntington Beach man early Sunday.

The pedestrian was struck by a black Audi RS5 around 12:45 a.m. on July 6 at the intersection of Atlanta Avenue and Delaware Street, a few blocks west of Beach Boulevard, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Police said the Audi was traveling eastbound on Atlanta and struck the victim east of Delaware.

The driver of the Audi, a 21-year-old Orange man, was uninjured. The pedestrian, a 35-year-old Huntington Beach man, was found unconscious in the roadway police said. He later died.

“Impairment is suspected with the driver of the Audi RS5,” police said. “He was taken into custody at the scene without incident.”
