A 49-year-old man was arrested while authorities seized about $8.4 million worth of illegal cannabis and 643 pounds of illicit mushrooms from an illegal delivery service in Westminster earlier this month, authorities said.
The Department of Cannabis Control, a state agency, announced the arrest and seizure Friday, May 15, adding that it was the culmination of work done to take down the unlicensed delivery service.
Kung Chau of Westminster was arrested May 2 on suspicion of possession for sale of a controlled substance and possession for sale of marijuana, officials said.
In all, investigators seized 351 pounds of cannabis concentrate, 1,505 pounds of illegal cannabis flower, 3,891 pounds of illegal vape cartridges and 600 pounds of illegal cannabis edibles, authorities said.
In addition, they seized psilocybin mushrooms – also known as magic mushrooms or hallucinogenic mushrooms – valued at $44,000.
“This sizeable enforcement action underscores Westminster PD’s commitment to keeping the public safe, as it addresses the vital need to protect communities from unlicensed cannabis operators who may also be distributing unregulated and untested substances like hallucinogenic mushrooms,” Westminster Police Chief Darin Lenyi said in a statement.
