An 8-year-old girl suffered serious fireworks injuries during a neighborhood Independence Day celebration in Buena Park, authorities said Saturday.
The injury was reported at 9:50 p.m. on Friday, July 4 around the 8000 block of Cornflower Circle, Buena Park police Sgt. Jon Shaddow said.
The fireworks “discharged unexpectedly during a neighborhood celebration,” he said.
Orange County Fire Authority paramedics treated the girl at the scene before taking her to UCI Medical Center.
Buena Park Police Department detectives and the OCFA were investigating the injury, Shaddow said.
What types of fireworks were involved and the injuries suffered were not specified. The girl’s condition on Saturday was not immediately available.
