A 38-year-old man pleaded guilty on Thursday, April 18, and was immediately sentenced to more than five years in prison for triggering a drug-fueled, eight-car crash that killed a woman in Anaheim.
At about 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 22, 2022, Luis Javier Garcia-Pedroza drove through a red light going south on Magnolia Avenue and crashed into the car driven eastbound on Ball Road by Vianey Granillo Ivey, 36, of Hawaiian Gardens, killing her, police have said.
Another victim was taken to a hospital for moderate injuries, and nine others complained of pain and were treated on scene, police said.
Garcia-Pedroza was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison for his guilty pleas to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of a drug causing injury, both felonies.
