Naked intruder shot by homeowner during break-in in Chino

An intruder who was naked and allegedly under the influence of drugs was shot and wounded by a homeowner during a residential break-in in Chino on Tuesday morning, April 22, police said.

Around 11:40 a.m., Chino Police Department officers responded to a 911 call from a resident on the 4300 block of Lombardy Court reporting that someone had broken into her home through a front window. According to the caller, her husband shot the intruder inside the residence.

Officers arrived to find the suspect inside the home, completely naked and appearing to be under the influence of drugs, police said. He was taken into custody and treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds to his lower body. He was reported to be in stable condition.

Detectives with the Chino Police Department are investigating the case.

The suspect, a 21-year-old Whittier resident, is expected to face charges related to the burglary following his release from the hospital. The case will be submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review.
