Orange County wrestling coach arrested on suspicion of grooming, sexually assaulting at least 2 girls

A Huntington Beach man was arrested on suspicion that he had sexual relationships with at least two girls while working as a wrestling coach for two Orange County high schools.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday said its Special Victim’s Detail talked with two victims after getting a tip in February from an organization working to reduce sexual assaults of athletes.

Both girls accused Anthony Oscar Alcala, 28, of grooming them and having sexual relationships with them while he worked as a wrestling coach at El Modena High School in Orange and Foothill High School in the Tustin area.

Investigators also learned that Alcala previously worked as a coach at Premier Wrestling, formerly known as Somar Wrestling, a private wrestling club in Placentia.

Alcala was arrested on suspicion of multiple felonies, including having sex with a minor.

Because of his access to minors, investigators believe there may be other victims. Investigators ask anyone with further information to call the Special Victim’s Detail at 714-647-7419, dispatchers at 714-647-7000 or leave an anonymous tip at 855-TIP-OCCS (847-6227).
