SigAlert closes lanes of 55 Freeway in Orange County due to police activity

Southbound 55 Freeway lanes in Orange County were closed until further notice due to police activity during rush hour Wednesday afternoon, May 28.

All southbound lanes were closed at Lincoln Avenue in Orange and a SigAlert was in place, Caltrans posted on X around 4:30 p.m. The closure area is south of the 91 Freeway interchange.

In an update at 5:16 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said the HOV lane was open but other lanes remained closed.

Drivers were urged to find alternate routes and proceed with caution in the area.
