The oft-delayed Porto’s Bakery in Downtown Disney that was first announced three years ago has been delayed yet again — a move that will have a ripple effect on the nomadic Earl of Sandwich restaurant.
The temporary Earl of Sandwich location on the east end of the Anaheim outdoor shopping mall that was set to close over the weekend was given a reprieve as the start of construction was pushed back again on the new Porto’s Bakery planned for the location.

The temporary Earl of Sandwich restaurant in the former La Brea Bakery location was scheduled to close on July 26, according to company officials.
Earl of Sandwich employees were notified by email on July 25 that the closure would be pushed back by at least a month and possibly longer, according to MiceChat.

Permits filed in April with the Anaheim Planning and Building Department called for the 2,600-square-foot La Brea Bakery and two Disneyland ticket booths to be demolished, utilities capped and foundation removed.
The Earl of Sandwich Tavern restaurant in Downtown Disney announced plans in June to lay off 167 employees and permanently close its temporary location in the former La Brea Bakery to make way for the construction of a new Porto’s Bakery.
