7-month-old Emmanuel Haro’s parents arrested on suspicion of murder

Authorities have confirmed that both parents have been arrested in the disappearance of their 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro, in San Bernardino County on Friday morning.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the arrests following an apparent operation at the family’s home in Cabazon. Emmanuel still has not been found.

“This morning, detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail and Specialized Enforcement Division arrested Jake and Rebecca Haro at their residence in Cabazon for PC 187 – Murder,” wrote SBSD in an update on X. “Investigators will continue their search for seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro.”

Emmanuel was reported missing around 7:47 p.m. on Aug. 14 after his mother said she was attacked and knocked unconscious while changing his diaper near a Big 5 Sporting Goods store on the 34000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard. “I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, ‘Hola,’ and I don’t remember anything since,” Rebecca Haro said. “I woke up here on the floor, and I didn’t see Emmanuel.”

Deputies from San Bernardino and Riverside counties, along with K-9 teams and a helicopter, searched the area but did not locate the infant.

Investigators later said they confronted Rebecca about inconsistencies in her initial statement, after which she declined to continue speaking with detectives. The Sheriff’s Department said it could not rule out foul play in Emmanuel’s disappearance.

On Wednesday, authorities said they followed up on a reported sighting out of Kern County, but the baby had not been located.

Emmanuel is about 24 inches tall and weighs about 21 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and is cross-eyed. He was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie.
