Arrest made in deadly San Bernardino stabbing

Police in San Bernardino have arrested a man suspected in a deadly stabbing that took place earlier this month.

On Monday, San Bernardino Police Department officers arrested 34-year-old Mark Amabisca on suspicion of stabbing another man to death.

The attack took place on April 3, just before 1 a.m. on the 3400 block of East Highland Avenue, officials said.

Officers responded to the scene and located a male victim who had been stabbed multiple times. Paramedics eventually arrived to the scene and declared the man dead. His name has not yet been released.

Amabisca was identified as the suspect, but for days no arrest was made. On Monday, officers took him into custody in San Bernardino on the 800 block of West Baseline Street.

Now detectives are asking for the public’s help to obtain additional information related to the deadly stabbing, including any witnesses who may be able to shed more light on the case.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the San Bernardino Police Department online or by calling 909-384-5742.

Amabisca remains in custody at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino and is being held on $1 million bail as he awaits charges for murder.

He also faces charges for smuggling contraband into a detention facility, as well as for violating the terms of parole, jail records show.

He is due to appear in court on April 16 for the parole violation, at which point he could be held without bail.
