Body of missing UCSB student found near Big Bear

Search crews have located the body of 22-year-old Tanner Prentiss, a student at UC Santa Barbara who disappeared over the weekend near Big Bear Lake.

On Monday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced that its dive team had recovered Prentiss’ body around 10:30 a.m., in the water near Pine Knot Marina on the 40,000 block of Village Drive.

No foul play was suspected, officials said, and the investigation has been handed over to the County Coroner’s Office.

Prentiss and several friends were in Big Bear Lake for the weekend. After a night out on Friday, he never made it back to his rental cabin, the Sheriff’s Department said.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tanner’s family, friends and all those who are affected by his loss,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
