Brush fire erupts in ‘light flashy fuels’ in Riverside County

Firefighters are responding to a wildfire that erupted amid “light flashy fuels” in Riverside County Thursday morning, officials said.

The Madera Fire was reported at 9:33 a.m. near Pauba Road and Winners Circle in an unincorporated area of Temecula, not far from Highway 79.

“Firefighters are on-scene of approximately 25 acres burning in light flashy fuels,” Cal Fire posted on X at 10:15 a.m.

Additional ground and air resources were responding to assist in the firefight, officials stated.

The fire, which was located about 7 miles from the Pechanga Resort Casino, comes amid some of the hottest temperatures of the summer in Southern California.

A heat advisory is currently in effect for Riverside County, where afternoon highs could reach 107 degrees.

No cause of the fire was initially reported.
