High pressure over Southern California is expected to bring continued hot weather and poor air quality through the beginning of the week.
“I talk about air quality quite a bit when we talk about higher pressure and warmer weather. I want everyone to know inland, very, very tough with the air quality,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Tuesday morning. “And now we’re getting an air quality alert … Those of you out in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, it’s going to be a little tough.”
The high pressure is also bringing hotter afternoons. Downtown Los Angeles reached 87 degrees on Monday, ten degrees above the normal high of 77 degrees.
A heat advisory is in place through 8 p.m. for parts of Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties Tuesday for afternoon highs reaching into the 90s.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is calling for the heat wave to continue for at least a couple more days, with some slight cooling arriving midweek.
“You should notice a cooldown beginning on Thursday because the winds are much stronger and they’re bringing in cooler air off the Pacific,” Henry said.
A more noticeable break is expected for the weekend.
“As we look at our first summer weekend coming up. We’re looking at temperatures coming in right around the average,” Henry said.
