Authorities in Lancaster are investigating a disturbing discovery after a man’s body was found in a trash bin inside a U-Haul truck early Sunday morning.
The incident unfolded around 1:49 a.m., when deputies investigating a report of a missing person arrived at the Shadow Park Inn Motel on the 44000 block of Sierra Highway.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies reviewed security footage from the motel and spotted a U-Haul truck leaving the area just before they arrived. They found the truck a short distance away on Beech Avenue, officials said.
Deputies opened the U-haul’s rear cargo area and found a large trash bin with a man’s body inside.
Sheriff’s officials say several individuals at both the motel and where the U-Haul was found were detained for questioning.
The LASD Homicide Bureau is investigating. No arrests have been announced and the identity of the victim has not been released.
The L.A. County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
Officials did not say if the body found was the same person related to the missing person investigation.
