A 29-year-old father of three was one of two people killed in a shooting outside a party in downtown L.A. that left another six people hurt early Monday morning.
Family members who spoke with KTLA identified one of the decedents as Gregory Derisso. His father said he was alerted to the shooting by a phone call from a friend who had “bad news” for him.
“His friend’s mom called me, and I answered the phone and she told me [she had] bad news,” Judner Derisso told KTLA. “She went quiet…[and said] her son told her that my son was shot.”
Police said Derisso was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other person who died in the shooting was pronounced dead at a hospital. She was only identified as a 52-year-old woman.
Most, if not all, of the six people who were injured were taken by ambulance or self-transported to California Hospital Medical Center. A crowd of people gathered outside the hospital shortly after some of the victims were said to have arrived there.
The injured were identified as five men aged 26, 28, 34, 37 and 62; a 28-year-old woman was also hurt, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
There was no information on a suspect or suspects connected to the fatal shooting.
