Film and television workers organize rally to support Los Angeles productions

As film and television productions continue to leave California for more competitive markets, industry professionals are rallying to bring jobs back to Los Angeles.

Members of the film and television industry, including filmmakers, small business owners and technical crew are planning a major rally next month in support of STAYinLA, a grassroots organization advocating for stronger support of local productions.

A rally will take place April 6 at SirReel Studios in Sun Valley, with a goal to bring together members of the film industry who are dependent on local productions to make a living.

Organizers say the event will serve as a platform for industry workers to advocate for solutions, including expanded tax incentives, lower permit fees and relief for those struggling to find work.

They say that revitalizing L.A. productions is not just about film and TV, but protecting thousands of jobs in dozens of industries ranging from cast and crew members to caterers and small business owners who rely on production spending.

“L.A. is the heart of the entertainment industry,” organizers wrote. “Now, in the wake of the fires, L.A. is hurting even more. We can’t afford to lose more work. We need production back in L.A.!”

More information about the STAYinLA efforts can be found on the group’s website.
