Hawaiian Airlines plane evacuated after alleged bomb threat at San Diego airport

SAN DIEGO (KSWB/KUSI) – A Hawaiian Airlines flight departing for Honolulu from San Diego International Airport (SAN) was diverted off the tarmac Tuesday morning after reports of a bomb threat in connection with the flight, authorities said.

The plane, an Airbus twin-jet, left its gate at SAN around 8:30 a.m., according to FlightAware. Its intended destination was Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.

Port of San Diego Harbor Police confirmed with FOX 5/KUSI there was a bomb threat made in connection with the flight.

Passengers were seen leaving the plane around 10:30 a.m. Emergency vehicles from various law enforcement agencies in San Diego County were seen surrounding the plane as passengers exited.

The plane has been moved to a secure location and is being checked by K-9s, Harbor Police added.

The rest of the airport is operating as normal and no other flights are impacted, according to an airport spokesperson.
