Isolated storms possible in Southern California this weekend

An area of low pressure over Southern California is keeping temperatures in check and bringing cloudy skies, drizzle, and even isolated thunderstorms to the region.

Downtown Los Angeles, which hit 92 degrees earlier in the week, will see high temperatures only in the mid-70s from Friday through next Wednesday. Inland valleys and the Inland Empire will be in the low to mid-80s.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 4 to 8-degree drop in temperatures across the region, with increased humidity making conditions feel slightly muggy.

Isolated storms are possible throughout the day on Saturday.

The Weather Service says hourly rain rates could reach a half inch to three-quarters of an inch over the Ventura and Los Angeles County mountains.

“This means that there is a low but present threat of flash flooding and burn scar debris flows if the heaviest cell forms over a vulnerable area,” NWS said.
