L.A. fans take to the streets to celebrate Dodgers winning back-to-back World Series championships

Fans across Los Angeles took to the streets to celebrate after the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 to win their second straight World Series title Saturday night.

The Dodgers became the first team in a quarter-century to win consecutive World Series titles. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was named the 2025 World Series MVP.

A large group gathered at the intersection of Van Nuys Avenue and Haddon Boulevard in Pacoima where drivers were seen doing street stunts and donuts and fireworks were launched into the sky.

A citywide tactical alert was issued by the Los Angeles Police Department. The alert was issued shortly before 6 p.m. and will continue through the night.

A dispersal order was issued in areas of Echo Park and downtown L.A. and the use of tear gas was authorized.

“Less-than-lethal munitions have been authorized by the Incident Commander in the area of Sunset and Echo Park,” LAPD said. “Industrial-sized fireworks are being launched into a crowd of people and at officers. All persons must leave the area. Any person who remains in the area is subject to arrest.”

Police said around 350 to 400 people had gathered near 9th and Hope Street, where vehicles were doing donuts. Officers were en route to the scene.

As of Saturday night, these streets in downtown L.A. were closed to traffic:

  • Pico Blvd. between LA Live Way and Grand. 
  • Flower St. between 9th St. and Venice Blvd. 
  • Hope St. between 9th St. and Venice Blvd. 
  • Olympic Blvd. between LA Live Way and Grand Ave. 
  • Figueroa between Olympic Blvd. and Pico Blvd. 
  • LA Live Way between Pico Blvd and Olympic Blvd.

The Dodgers will celebrate their back-to-back World Series title with a parade in downtown L.A. and an event at Dodger Stadium on Monday, Nov. 3.
