Los Angeles County’s free after-school program Every Body Plays is returning this fall with a fresh slate of activities and an expanded commitment to youth development across 59 parks.
The program relaunches Tuesday, Sept. 2, and will run through May 22.
Open to children and teens ages 7 to 17, Every Body Plays will operate Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at participating LA County Parks locations. Registration is now open.
Designed as a safe and supportive alternative for families during after-school hours, the program emphasizes creativity, exploration and connection.
This year’s offering includes tech labs, sports and fitness, arts and crafts, movies in the park, holiday and cultural events, field trips, and daily healthy snacks. Homework help and ESTEAM (environment, science, technology, engineering, arts and math) activities are also part of the lineup, officials said.

“We’re proud to show up for kids and families across LA County,” said Norma E. García-González, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. “Our revitalized Every Body Plays program offers safe, engaging after-school options that support working families while giving kids and youth fun and enriching experiences that spark creativity, build confidence, and inspire growth—inside and out.”
LA County Parks officials say the rebooted, completely free program builds on the success of previous years while integrating new features tailored to community needs.
With its emphasis on hands-on learning and local access, Every Body Plays aims to give youth opportunities to thrive close to home, officials said.
