NASCAR will host street races on a naval base in San Diego Bay in 2026 in an event that coincides with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy.
The races bring NASCAR back to Southern California for the first time since a short track race at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 2024 and the closure of Auto Club Speedway in Fontana in 2023.
For the past three years, NASCAR has hosted a street race in Chicago, but that event will not return in 2026.
“As part of our nation’s 250th anniversary, we are honored for NASCAR to join the celebration as we host our first street race at a military base, Naval Base Coronado,” said a statement from Ben Kennedy, the executive vice president and chief venue and racing innovation officer of NASCAR. “NASCAR San Diego Weekend will honor the Navy’s history and the men and women who serve as we take the best motorsports in the world to the streets of Naval Base Coronado.”

The track is expected to be approximately three miles long and will be completely contained within Naval Base Coronado, situated at the end of a peninsula in San Diego Bay.
The weekend event will be from June 19-21 and will include three national series, the San Diego Cup Series on Prime Video, Xfinity Series on The CW and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series on FOX Sports.
“It’s an honor to partner with NASCAR at NAS North Island as part of our 250th anniversary celebration. Hosting one of America’s premier motorsports events on this historic base reflects our partnership with the local community and our shared pride in the nation’s heritage,” reads part of a statement from Captain Loren Jacobi.
With the announcement, NASCAR also launched a website dedicated to the San Diego event and said that deposits for tickets can be made immediately, with the sale of tickets to come later this fall.
