‘No Kings’ protestors ordered to disperse, tear gassed in downtown Los Angeles

A day of peaceful protests took a turn in downtown Los Angeles late Saturday afternoon when law enforcement began ordering the thousands of “No Kings” demonstrators to disperse.

Flashbangs and tear gas were seen deployed, and Sky5 captured the moment officers on foot and horseback moved into the large crowd. The L.A. Police Department reported some protestors were “becoming increasingly unruly” and that people are throwing rocks, bricks, bottles and other objects.

LAPD issued the dispersal order for the following areas:

  • Alameda Street, the area south of Aliso and north of Temple Street
  • Los Angeles St between Aliso and Temple

In addition, LAPD said all 101 Freeway on and off ramps will remain closed between Alameda Street and the 110 Freeway.

  • Los Angeles police officers deploy gas as a dispersal order was issued shortly before 4 p.m. in downtown Los Angeles. (KTLA)

The “No Kings” movement started in opposition to policies being instituted by President Donald Trump and his administration. Saturday’s nationwide protests coincide with Flag Day, the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, and President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.
